Jennifer is a RYT 200, Yoga Alliance certified teacher, and has an ASU BS degree in Health and Wellness Coaching.  She is a Usui Reiki master, and is continuing her education in alternative medicine. She is currently enrolled in an Advanced Yoga Training program.

She is a kind, candid, and open person. She explains everything thoroughly and loves breaking down concepts.  She accepts every person as the wonderful and unique being that they are.

8. Is yoga hard to do?

Not usually. Different classes are designed specifically for people’s various abilities. You are not expected to do anything you are not comfortable with. You are in charge of your own body. All classes are appropriate for beginners. Check out the classes descriptions to learn what to expect.

Everybody is different, we should not expect one answer suitable for everybody. What you can know, is that we each start in a different place.  Together, we go from there.  It is insightful to recognize your abilities.  You are not expected to do anything you are not comfortable with.  The teacher can offer modifications.  We will each need a modification for a different thing, and every pose has multiple modifications

9.  What if I don’t know the poses called asanas?

You come to class to learn the asanas. The teacher walks you through exactly what to do, and demonstrates in front of the class.

10.  What is the studio etiquette?

Arrive 5-15 minutes early. Use quiet voices, so we do not disturb others. Belongings are left in the front area. Greet the teacher, and lay a yoga mat down.

11.  Should I get there early?

Yes. We start class at the exact start time. If it is your first time arrive 15 minutes early so you and the teacher can meet each other. If you have a physical limitation, it is important to let the teacher know.

17. What is Yoga?

It is an exercise to stretch, strengthen, relax, and grow the body-mind connection.  It is suitable for all ages and bodies.  The body, mind, and spirit are not separate.  They each effect the others.  By working to improve one, we in

turn effect the others.

18. What is meditation?

Meditation is a relaxation technique.  By teaching our mind to relax, we will feel the effect it has on our bodies.  Yoga is a form of moving meditation.  It is enjoyable to have a clear, flexible, and relaxed mind, and to be able to create these sensations on command.

19. Are there different types of yoga?

Yes.  Hatha yoga is the one you are familiar with.  The term ‘Hatha’ describes the physical movement or asana.  Hatha breaks up into various types.  Each teacher is different.  It is important to find one that you are compatible with.

20. Did Yoga originate in India?

Yes.  Yoga has been around for thousands of years.  It is in yoga’s nature to constantly evolve to fit the people or person who practices it.  Right now, in America, we approach yoga from the movements.  Many people are surprised to learn this can have awesome side effects, such as the effects on the mind and spirit.  Many of the postures are named after the animals that they look like.  The poses are sometimes referred to in their native language of Sanskrit, but they all have translations.

21.  What is the history of Inspired Life?

We started off in the Former Atkinson Elementary School the summer of 2015.  I called it, "Jennifer's Yoga Journey."  A few months later, we changed locations.  The name changed too.  We are now in the Atkinson Wellness Center, located downtown, and more aptly named, "Inspired Life."
